Camel uses convention over configuration so sometimes it’s useful to turn on debug logging to see how Camel is operating and to try and diagnose issues.
Camel uses sfl4j which allows you to configure logging via, among others:
To enable debug logging we recommend you use log4j for logging then make sure your log4j.properties file enables DEBUG level logging for the org.apache.camel
package.
For example here is a log4j.properties
file with debug Camel logging: enabled
log4j.rootLogger=INFO, out
log4j.logger.org.apache.camel=DEBUG
log4j.appender.out=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender
log4j.appender.out.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.out.layout.ConversionPattern=[%30.30t] %-30.30c{1} %-5p %m%n
#log4j.appender.out.layout.ConversionPattern=%d [%-15.15t] %-5p %-30.30c{1} - %m%n
